Pappy's Birthday Party

Saturday was my dad's birthday. However, we couldn't all get together on that day so tonight was the night to celebrate. I, unfortunately, was not able to attend because I had a Southern Living party that was planned way in advance. My mom sent me the pictures from tonight and I thought they were cute and should be shared. Not sure why Brooker is wearing the "What Happens at Grandma's stays at Grandma's onesie" because I'm positive I sent him in his camo shorts and polo! Oh well...he still looks cute in my book! Happy Birthday Pappy...Hope you liked the yummy chocolate cake I made and sorry I missed the celebration!

Caladium Festival 5K

Today was the Caladium Festival 5k in Lake Placid. I decided three weeks ago that I really needed to get back into an exercise routine and when I sign up for 5k's in advance, they really keep me motivated every day. I went to Fit Niche in Lakeland and got fitted for some new running shoes that I really like and are really comfortable. Erin, Leslie, and my mom and I ran the race. There were lots of people running that day. Since I haven't done a 5k since April I wasn't sure how it would go. I finished 3rd in my age group which I was really happy about. I'm not sure how my time compared to that of my other races this past spring(haven't taken the time to look) but I must say it was a HARD run with all the hills but I made it through okay! I was very proud of Erin...she ran really fast! Leslie did awesome too...this was only her 2nd race. Mom especially made me proud because she finished 2nd in her age group! I plan to sign up for more races this fall to keep me going.

All of us before the race...

Fun times!

Today I got a phone call from Leslie and Emily that they had cabin fever and wanted to go to the Hammock or somewhere besides home. I thought that sounded like a great plan but unfortunately the weather was not cooperating. We decided that a play date in Brooker's play room would be just the ticket to cure the boredom. And that it was! We had a great time with ALL the kids(5 to be exact). I just love a house full of friends and kids so it was nice. We had some back porch play complete with bubbles. We ate snacks at the picnic table in the playroom. We put all the kids (besides Baxlee because we didn't think that would be safe for a 2 month old) in Brooker's crib, played ring-around-the-rosie in the front yard, took a long walk down the street to look for gators and turtles. Mr. Turtle, as he is known to Brooker, was not at his hole so we were disappointed to get all the way there and not see him. However, the kids had a blast and I know the mommies did too.

Fay made for a day of play!

Although we got cabin fever BAD towards the end of the day, we still found things to do to keep ourselves entertained...a lot of hide-and-seek. This game never seems to get old to Brooker and he will stay in his hiding places (behind the clothes in my closet) for a long time. I usually get a few things accomplished while he's hiding...in between my yells for him, "Brooker, where are you?" "Brooker? Brooker?" He thinks it's hilarious. We ended up going to visit Jared's dad and sister for dinner and had lobster. Yum!

Edy Mae's 1st Birthday Party

We really enjoyed ourselves at Edy's first birthday party. The kids really liked the sand/water table that Edy got from her grandparents. Thank you to Emily and JD for inviting us to be part of her special day.

Photo Shoot

I've never been good about taking Brooker to have his picture made every few months like we used to have done when we were babies...but, I try to practice my own photography with my camera. I usually love how the pictures turn out better anyway and it's much cheaper. I did a mini shoot and got a few good ones. Brooker is 15 months in these pictures.

Happy Face...Sad Face

When I ask Brooker to smile for me he's really getting pretty good at it. However, this morning he was in rare form...As you can see his smile is a little silly looking, but it was so funny and immediately afterwards he made a sad face. I swear I could just eat that boy up!

Birthday Celebration with the Bible Study Girls

Since we weren't all in town on my actual birthday, my bible study girls decided that a get together was in store for us to celebrate. We went to the Thai restaurant. I didn't really like what I ordered but the egg roll appetizers were yummy. We were all especially impressed with the barbie-size grill that you could heat your chicken on! I so enjoy getting together with these girls (most of them are family...although Amy is like family)and tonight was no exception. We definitely keep each other laughing. We forgot to take a picture while Sarah was still there...sorry Sarah.

No use in crying over spilled milk!

Oh my! Here's how the story goes...Brooker asked for milk. I put some in his sippy cup (the kind with the rubber top that fits in like the nipple on a bottle). I went to check on something and it got very quiet in the house. Figuring that Brooker was just busy drinking his milk, I continued doing what I was doing. After a minute or two I decided I better check on him...This is what I found! Not only was it all over my kitchen floors, he made his way through my bedroom and into the bathroom where it was all over the tile floors too! I guess the nipple part was not pulled through all the way and the milk was able to leak out. There was hardly a drop of milk left in the cup after he was done with this little escapade!

He Just Wants to Walk in his Daddy's Shoes!

Brooker loves shoes. He doesn't particularly love to wear his own shoes but he has a lot of fun putting on mommy and daddy's shoes. In the first pictures he is wearing Jared's shoes...he found them lying around the house (imagine that!). However, in the last picture he is wearing my shoes...his Aunt Jame Jame put him up to that one.

My 27th Birthday Party

This past Wednesday was my 27th birthday. Jared wanted to do something special for me and get some of my friends and family together. He make some phone calls and arranged for everyone to meet at Don Jose's. I knew some of them were coming but was very surprised to see some people I didn't know were going to come too! I thought it was so sweet of Jared to think of me and want to do something so nice. He brought a cake and candle to make it all official! Thank you, thank you to my wonderful husband, family, & friends. It meant so much to have you all there.

Some of the girls & Brooker too!...Nicole, Kristin, Me, Leslie, Amy, & my little man!
