Weekend in Gainesville

We had the best family weekend in Gainesville kicking off the start of football season! We took the camper up there so we'd have our little home away from home. When we arrived and got set up on Friday evening it was time for dinner which we enjoyed at a yummy spot called Burger 21. Then it was bedtime! The next morning we enjoyed riding around campus and reminiscing (which is what it seems we do every time we are in G-Ville). We actually drove into Oxford Manor to eyeball my old apartment...B6. Not much has changed except a new paint job! For lunch we ate at Four Rivers BBQ and oh my was it amazing! We enjoyed stocking up on Gator gear at Alumni Hall then went back to the camper for some downtime before heading to tailgate. Jared and Brooker played catch with the football and Mary Kate and I painted nails with her new orange and blue polish and gator nail stickers! That afternoon we drove to campus and met up with John, Mandy, Avery, and Hutch for a quick visit before walking to the stadium. Did I mention how HOT it was??? We got into our seats and took in a beautiful view of the field and all the fans, even doing the "wave" a few times before hearing that lightning was spotted in the area and the game would be delayed. Following that disappointing announcement came the dark storm clouds, sprinkling, and lots of lightning. We took shelter under the stands and waited it out for a couple of hours before heading back to the truck! It felt so good to get our showers and get in bed that night. The poor Gators didn't get to play! In spite of not seeing any football action, it was still a great weekend and we look forward to round 2 next weekend!
