July Miscellaneous

Odds and Ends from July

Always fun to see her creations!

Today the kids ransacked the house...OOOOOHHHH MY!

Brooker, Nolan, and Oren went to golf camp at Sun N' Lake.

Loves the kitchen! She likes to help me bake and help daddy cook.

Purple cake!

Getting our nails done.

Meeting cousin Cole for the first time.

He's so sweet!

Her little friend Bella was so sweet to pick her out a pink dolphin from Mote Marine!

She loves to just stand at her closet and look at her clothes and decide what she wants to dress-up in!

Paddleboarding at Sunset

The kids were featured in the Heartland Magazine this month...the Spurlow's Spotlight was on fishing!

Scenic 17 Triathlon

Brooker worked hard in his race today at the Scenic 17 Triathlon in Babson Park. Tripower had a great showing of kids! Mammy and Pappy came along to cheer for B. The only mishap he had was when he came in for his 2nd transition his race belt with number was missing and no where to be found. No one in the transition area quite knew what to do. He stood around for what seemed like 5 minutes waiting for a decision to be made. Finally he was told to go! Poor little guy told the volunteer, "This is really hurting my time." Oh well, an event to be remembered!

Happy 11th Anniversary to Us!

Today we celebrate 11 years of marriage! So hard to believe...On one hand that seems like forever and on the other, it seems so short. All I know is that it's been 11 wonderful years! Jared surprised me this morning (he's good at that) with new paddleboards for the two of us. We set out on Lake Jackson bright and early and enjoyed the peaceful and calm water. Later on we took a trip to Fort Myers for PF Changs and a movie...the perfect date!

Slumber Party

Mary Kate and Marlee had their first slumber party together last night. Laci sent me pics of all the fun things they did including popsicles in the bathtub, a talent show for Uncle Bear, sleeping in sleeping bags, and a pancake breakfast in the morning!

Howl at the Moon 5k

Tonight Adam and Stacy Smehyl held the first event put on by their company, Running Junkie! It was a 5k event (actually more like 3.7 miles) held at night on the trail in Highlands Hammock. Everyone got glow in the dark shirts and were encouraged to wear headlamps! Brooker led the entire pack of runners for the first mile and a half or so. He was so pumped. There were some different obstacle type things along the route that were fun. B-Man ended up winning overall in the youth division and he was a happy boy! Hoooooowwwwwllll!

Camp Wakataka

This week has been one of the BEST weeks for my little guy this summer! He joined lots of cousins and friends at Camp Wakataka on Lake Denton for a week of fun, food, adventure, and most important, Jesus! He had a top bunk in Cabin 7.  The families were all invited out for dinner and a presentation by the campers on Thursday then the parents went home and the kids stayed the night. Brooker can't wait to go back next summer!

Camping at North Hutchinson Island

This weekend we had a camping getaway to Oceans Resort in Hutchinson Island. Jared's aunt, uncle, and granny brought their camper along too. Our spot in the RV park was right up front and just a skip away from the beach. The weather was HOT but wonderful on the beach! We haven't spent much time on the East Coast and it was fun to see how different it is from the west. The waves were big and perfect for riding the boogie board. The kids played so hard the whole time. We enjoyed finding seashells and painting them at the camper. Camping weekends are truly the best!
