Island Getaway
We got a hankering for some "Island Time" so we hitched up the boat and hit the road. On Saturday and Sunday the weather was beautiful! We enjoyed the beach, boat, dock, and porch. On Sunday we even made a trip to Cabbage Key for lunch. So nice! Our trip was going great...that is until we woke up to nothin' but RAIN on Monday. It seemed to rain until Tuesday when we finally got a break in the weather to load up and head home. Oh well!

Eric Church Concert
Saturday night we had the privilege of joining over 100 fans from Highlands County at an Eric Church concert at the Dallas Bull in Tampa. It was GREAT! The event raised funds for the Mason G. Smoak Foundation which is near and dear to our hearts and the hearts of many who knew Mason and his family. For more information on the foundation, check out the website, http://www.masongsmoakfoundation.org

He made me a mommy!
Mother's Day 2009
What a special blessing to be a mommy! Thank you God for entrusting me with Brooker!
We ate lunch at the Hammock after church today...Mammy spotted this turtle and Brooker was intrigued. He LOVES turtles...always has. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of me and my little man on Mother's Day...these will have to do!

More evidence of grime!
These were from my mom's camera...
Washing the mud from our clothes after the race...ewww!

The mudpit on Friday before the race. It definitely did not look like this by the time we went through. Out of 3500 people, we were in the next to last wave....talk about major mud...all nice and churned for us!

Muddy Buddy: Partners In Grime!
Today mom and I got to have our first "Muddy Buddy" experience. We decided (really I made the decision for us and she HAD to join me) this would be a great way to celebrate Mother's Day! Muddy Buddy is a relay race where team members "leap-frog" from obstacle to obstacle by running or biking. Mom started out on the bike and I ran. We went a little over a mile and hit our first obstacle...a rock-climbing wall. Then, she switched to running and I went to biking for a little over a mile. Again, another obstacle...this time a cargo net ladder and huge blow up slide. Then we switched again....you get the idea. She biked three legs and I ran three legs of the event. We had five obstacles and six miles of biking/running to do altogether. At the end we met up at a big mud pit and had to army crawl through! The entire event was so much fun! My dad, brother, and Jared came to watch and Jared was such a great photographer to capture the mud-pit moments! Sign us up for next year!!!
By the way, we went with an orange and blue theme in our outfits...check us out in the pics...we're the ones wearing orange shirts!
Going under a cargo net to enter the mud pit.

Molly Jane Zwayer
Our very dear friends, Eric & Amy Zwayer, welcomed their first child into the world today. Molly Jane Zwayer was born at 8:27 a.m., weighing in at 9 lbs. 11 oz. and 22 inches long. I got to visit her for awhile this afternoon and she was just perfect. She's definitely a blessed little girl to be given such wonderful parents as Amy & Eric.
